About Linda

Hello music lovers-I'm so glad you're here!
I'd like to share what I believe about learning to play the violin:
  • It's never too late to begin learning how to play music-learning can take place at any age.
  • Nothing's wasted. If you've studied music in the past - great! You will find that your experiences will be helpful in the process regardless of how far in the past you have studied.
  • The individualized approach to learning not only makes sense, it makes the process even more fun. You will have the opportunity to learn the basics of music theory, ear training and will be encouraged to explore the style of music YOU enjoy.
  • Bonus! Learning how to play an instrument is GREAT for your brain. Practicing novel motor movements helps to build neural connections and promotes improved brain functioning.
Here's a little bit of my background:
I began learning classical violin at age 6 and continued studying throughout college. My musical background included performing with the Pennsylvania State Symphony Orchestra, Marywood College Orchestra and the Weiss String Quartet. I continued my musical journey-moving "off the page" or learning and playing fiddle style tunes by listening rather than reading written music. I perform locally in the duo, The Familiars,
with my husband Manny and incorporate my love of violin, Irish low whistle and mandolin into our performances.

Please feel free to Contact me with any questions you might have or to schedule your lessons.
